Perhaps the most commonly used instrument in tantric rituals, this hand drum's sound both inspires and invokes all of the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and dakinis. Even as it sits on an altar, the hollow body of the drum symbolizes the dharmakaya, while its two sides symbolize the union of appearance and emptiness.
Although the damaru can either be made from bone or wood, bone implements are often prescribed for tantric practicioners—especially in accomplishing the practices of wrathful deities.
This damaru measures approximately 5" x 4" and weighs 7.5 oz without a tail ornament.
