Beautiful thangka of Chenrezig handpainted by traditional artists in the mountains of Nepal. Chenrezig, or Avalokitesvara (Sanskrit), is the guardian bodhisattva of the Mahayana. He is considered to be the essence of the compassion of all the Buddhas. He is pictured here with a thousand arms and his inner two hands hold a lotus between them. His mantra of all-pervading compassion is OM MANI PADME HUNG.
