Beautiful thangka of Red Chenrezig handpainted by traditional artists in the mountains of Nepal. Chenrezig, or Avalokitesvara (Sanskrit), is the guardian bodhisattva of the Mahayana. He is considered to be the essence of the compassion of all the Buddhas. He is pictured here in his red form with consort and Dharma protectors. His mantra of all-pervading compassion is OM MANI PADME HUNG.
