White Tara Thangka (SM)

Beautiful hand-painted thangka from Nepal depicting White Tara. Tara, or "She who liberates," is a female deity who is known for her swift protection for those who call upon her, as well as her enlightened activity and compassion. Tara has been known by many names: Sarasvati, Mandarava, Yeshe Tsogyal. Often considered the patron protector of Tibet, she is the female aspect of enlightened mind, the embodiment of absolute bodhicitta. Tara will never abandon a practitioner in need. White Tara, in particular, is related to longevity and protection so that one may be of ultimate benefit to self and others.
